ABOUT THE ROLE

Algorand Ventures is a critical program within the Algorand Foundation that makes investments in the teams and projects driving ecosystem innovation and adoption forward. In 2023, Algorand Ventures deployed over $4m into 20 companies building everything from fractional real estate marketplaces to oracle networks to payments solutions and beyond.

To be effective capital allocators the Foundation needs to stay abreast of the latest industry and market trends while building strong relationships with other VC firms actively investing in Algorand projects. In addition to staying connected to the macro crypto landscape, the analyst of Algorand Ventures also needs to advise portfolio companies and internal teams on fundraising, go-to-market, and all manner of strategies to reach critical mass.

The analyst at Algorand Ventures will be a key player in all aspects of the investment lifecycle while positioning the Algorand ecosystem for growth. The role presents a perfect opportunity for a candidate who is looking for exposure to venture capital and investments in the crypto and web3 ecosystem.

The role reports to the Chief Financial Officer of the Algorand Foundation.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate on investment memos with potential investors, projects, and teams within the Algorand ecosystem
• Socialize and present deal opportunities to relevant internal stakeholders and the investment committee
• Perform market research to help identify new investment trends and opportunities, surface these trends with ecosystem stakeholders to be further developed
• Conduct benchmark analysis to establish comparable companies/projects and their valuations
• Run the due diligence process for investments at all stages
• Monitor the progress of portfolio companies and keep internal system updated
• Maintain quarterly NAV reports for the portfolio at large and specific verticals
• Create valuation models and deal options based on financial and product metrics
• Network with peers in other Venture Capital Firms
• Support any ad hoc requests

KEY REQUIREMENTS

• Hands-on investment experience in crypto whether with a startup, exchange, venture fund, or trading desk
• High degree of literacy in venture deal terms, conditions, valuations, negotiations, etc.
• Good operational chops - demonstrated ability to see bottlenecks and find iterative solutions to achieve goals
• Experience or knowledge of investment valuation techniques and deal due diligence
• Ability to define goals, measure results, and communicate impact
• Outstanding analytical skills, detail-oriented, proactive and self-motivated
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

GOOD TO HAVE

• Experience working in PE, M&A, or investment banking
• Financial modeling skills
