[I'm Hiring, 1 full time and 2 internship roles open at Tin Men Capital]
I've been reflecting about the craft of community builders.
It's a unique specialist role with a demand for generalist capabilities.
A community builder specialises in cultivating advocates, and collaborators who will become allies in achieving the vision of the organisation.
To achieve this end, a community builder needs an almost non exhaustive list of skills, which all can be learned as you go.
But you'll need some key traits:
👀 Attention Grabber & Retainer -
Understands what is hype, marketing & content engagement.
🎉 Event Maestro -
Put together events that are worth people's time. Knows what goes into an event before, during and after.
🕵♂️ People Reader & Mover -
Be genuine, win people over and get them to work together.
🧠 Strategic Thinker-
In the midst of endless activities, you need to understand how it all feeds into the overall business objectives and create momentum for the rest of your organisation.
While I think a good community builder needs all of the above, organisations make the mistake of boxing their community builder to one role: marketers, event organisers, networkers, salesperson etc.
Community building is a big part of my role as Head of Partnerships at Tin Men Capital. And I'm looking for a Partnerships Executive to work closely with me in building up our capacity and engagement with our growing community.
We are also looking for full time interns who can join us for 4 months minimum.
