Position Specific Description
NextEra Energy Investments is seeking a driven and entrepreneurial venture capital investment professional to join our team in Washington, DC, San Francisco, or at NextEra Energy’s headquarters in Juno Beach, near West Palm Beach, FL. The title—Associate or Senior Associate—will be commensurate with experience. This is a high‑impact role focused on identifying and investing in early‑stage enterprise and cybersecurity software and AI companies.
To be successful in this role, you will leverage analytical and financial acumen plus excellent communication, negotiation, and business development skills. Building lasting relationships with entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and industry experts will be critical, as will staying ahead of market trends and emerging technologies shaping the technology and AI landscapes.
Your day‑to‑day work will involve conducting in‑depth market research, developing financial models, and crafting compelling investment theses that support NextEra Energy’s long‑term strategic vision. You will leverage AI in your work. You will collaborate closely with internal business units to understand evolving operational needs and identify opportunities where technology can drive meaningful transformation. From deal origination through closing, you will manage investment execution, including conducting due diligence and negotiating and structuring venture investments. Post‑investment, you will provide guidance and support to portfolio companies, helping them scale and succeed.

Job Overview:
Associates on the NextEra Energy Investments venture capital team are responsible for sourcing, evaluating, executing, and managing venture capital investments. Associates work within NextEra to develop relationships with business and technology leaders and to understand their strategies and needs. They also build relationships with entrepreneurs and other venture capital firms to source relevant investment opportunities. They work closely with portfolio companies to drive positive outcomes for both the companies and NextEra.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop relationships with internal business leaders to understand strategies and needs
Research and evaluate markets and technologies
Source new venture investment opportunities and prepare investment approval memoranda
Lead investment due diligence and manage transaction execution
Support the success of portfolio companies through product feedback, commercial opportunities, and strategic guidance
Network and build relationships with entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and industry experts
Perform other job‑related duties as assigned
Preferred Required Qualifications:
4+ years of experience in technology, finance, investing, or consulting roles
Excellent numerical and analytical skills
Master’s degree in Business Administration
Venture capital investment experience and/or experience working at or with startup companies
Understanding of and interest in enterprise and cybersecurity software and AI

The estimated base pay for this position is $121,600.00 to $182,400.00 per year. Starting pay will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, job-related and industry knowledge and skills and education/training.
