At White Star Capital, we have backed several leading start-ups at the Series A and B stages, including the likes of Dollar Shave Club, Freshly, Vention, Butternut Box, FINN, Novisto, and Clark. For our Early Growth Fund strategy, we look to back businesses in the early-growth stage and adopt an active approach enabled by a concentrated portfolio strategy.

The Early Growth Fund is now actively recruiting for a full-time Associate to join our team. The role will be London-based with a particular focus on European early stage investments.

As an Associate, you will be brought into every aspect of sourcing and deal execution and supporting portfolio companies as they scale. You will be responsible for building relationships with founders and assisting the team more broadly on growth initiatives.

Responsibilities include

  • Independently screen and originate new investment opportunities
  • All aspects of due diligence on potential investments: strategy, market, management, competition, financial, returns modelling
  • Prepare investment committee papers and present investment recommendations
  • Support with portfolio monitoring, and provide hands-on support to portfolio companies
  • Conduct fundamental research on key sector and investment trends
  • Assist with ad-hoc fundraising and investor relations
  • Represent the firm in meetings with startups and at industry events
  • Day-to-day management of interns within the team

Essential qualifications

  • At least two years of experience in principal investing (venture capital, growth equity, private equity), investment banking, management consulting, or high growth tech businesses
  • Exceptional modelling and analytical skills in the context of financial statements and KPI with strong ability to synthesise and present complex data to various stakeholders
  • Entrepreneurial, highly organised, hardworking, motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a larger global team
  • Compelling written and oral communication skills and fluency in English; ability to interact with key stakeholders internally and externally with a wide range of seniority
  • Educated to a degree level at a leading university (Bachelor’s or Master’s) and achieved at least a 2:1 qualification or equivalent
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills

Preferred qualifications

  • Exposure to, or interest in, technology or technology-enabled sectors
  • Right to work in the UK
