About the Role:

Boyd Street Ventures (BSV) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Venture Studio Director to work closely with the Fund’s General Partner and BSV’s leadership team to lead the Fund’s Venture Studio. The Venture Studio’s mission is to support BSV’s role as an active investor by providing tailored support to help portfolio companies operate efficiently, scale, and exit successfully.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Fund’s portfolio companies which will include some support of the sourcing and investment selection process and mainly focused on ongoing performance management. This also includes all planning, activities, resources, budgets, and operations for the Venture Studio. This role requires a strategic leader with an entrepreneurial mindset who can effectively and innovatively grow and expand the impact of the Venture Studio, as well as forge strong relationships with key stakeholders and local organizations. The Director will play a pivotal role in driving our mission to foster innovation and entrepreneurship by providing critical resources, mentorship, and strategic guidance to emerging startups.

Key responsibilities:

General Oversight:

  • Lead the strategy, planning, and programming execution of the Venture Studio
  • Develop and monitor budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation
  • Run the investment process for BSV which includes sourcing investments through screening and final diligence made by the investment committee
  • Work closely with portfolio company CEOs and management to support their plans for growth
  • Develop and deliver regular updates on portfolio companies’ performance to the BSV leadership and Advisory Board

Partnerships and Network/Community Engagement:

  • Build and manage a robust mentor and advisor network to support portfolio companies
  • Identify and develop opportunities for collaboration, joint ventures, and co-investments
  • Forge strategic partnerships and cultivate relationships with key external partners, including accelerators, other venture capital firms, and corporations, to enhance program resources and impact
  • Engage with BSV network and community to identify key advisors, board members, and investors

Advisory Board Management:

  • Manage the Venture Studio Advisory Board, ensuring it provides valuable insights and direction
  • Facilitate regular communication and quarterly Board meetings
  • Manage and ensure the overall effectiveness of the Advisor <> PortCo CEO program

Tool & Resource Management:

  • Source, evaluate, and implement new tools and resources to support the Venture Studio objectives
  • Continuously assess and optimize tools and resources available to portfolio companies

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Entrepreneurship, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in working with early or growth-stage startups (investment experience preferred)
  • Deep understanding of the startup ecosystem, venture capital, and entrepreneurial dynamics
  • Proven experience working with incubators, accelerators, venture studios, or similar programs (preferred)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset, capable of driving program success and growth.
  • Ability to take initiative, multitask, prioritize, and manage multiple programs simultaneously.

Location:

Remote but OK-based preferred (initially the role will be remote with 20-30% travel to Norman, OK; long-term travel to Norman will be 40-60%)
