This position can either be on-site, or hybrid and is based at our location in Raleigh, NC.
The Director of Corporate Ventures will spearhead the development and execution of our corporate venture capital strategy, focusing on identifying, evaluating, and managing investments in startups and emerging technologies in line with the MANN+HUMMEL strategic goals. This role is crucial for driving innovation and growth by leveraging external partnerships and investments in strong coordination with the MANN+HUMMEL business units as further outlined below.
Main Tasks
Develop and implement the corporate venture strategy aligned with the company's overall strategic goals
Identify key industry trends, market opportunities, and technological advancements that align with the company's growth objectives
Source, evaluate, and recommend investment opportunities in startups and emerging technologies
Conduct due diligence, including market analysis, technology evaluations, financial modelling, and risk assessment
Negotiate and communicate successfully with entrepreneurs, management teams, partners, and other stakeholders, including attorneys, advisors, consultants, and MANN+HUMMEL’s Executive Management
Build relationships with entrepreneurs, investors, intermediaries, and executives to stay informed of early and growth companies
Develop and maintain strong relationships with VCs, Incubators, and Accelerators to create a robust partner pipeline
Oversee ongoing relationships with portfolio companies to enhance strategic and financial value for both MANN+HUMMEL and the portfolio companies
Develop, coordinate, and support joint strategic innovation projects between startups and internal business units
Prepare and present regular reports on investment performance, strategic insights, and recommendations to senior management
Advise and mentor internal Digital Ventures teams
Your Profile
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance (MBA preferred)
Experience:
10+ years' experience working with emerging technologies in B-2-B corporate business development, or strategy
5+ years' demonstrated venture capital investing experience
Experience with start-up companies, venture capitalists, commercial partnerships, and incubators
Required Skills:
Strong understanding of industrial technology and manufacturing trends and challenges
Excellent analytical, financial modeling, and due diligence skills
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities
Ability to work effectively with global cross-functional teams and senior executives
Required Travel:
Occasional travel required for investment meetings, industry events, site visits to portfolio companies, and MANN+HUMMEL locations both domestically and overseas (globally)
