ASIF Ventures is a venture capital fund that aims to nurture the next generation of student entrepreneurs. We provide early-stage funding and support to student startups, empowering them to bring their innovative ideas to life. We aim to bridge the gap between student entrepreneurs and Amsterdam's VC and startup ecosystem.
To accomplish this mission, ASIF is seeking fellows to join us in the 2024-2025 academic year and allow more students to gain experience and be exposed to startups, venture capital and opportunities in Amsterdam's entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Deal Flow Fellow
About the Team
Our deal flow team identifies and evaluates early-stage startups led by Amsterdam's student and recent graduate entrepreneurs for ASIF to invest in. We focus on sourcing high-potential ventures, conducting thorough due diligence, and supporting founders through strategic feedback to drive their growth and success, supporting ASIF's mission as a fund. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in venture capital and to familiarize yourself with the whole investment process while supporting the growth of Amsterdam’s startup ecosystem.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Scouting Startups: Identify and evaluate innovative startups within ASIF’s investment scope.
- Founder Meetings: Distill key insights from founder interactions into concise, impactful summaries.
- Business Validation: Validate critical assumptions within business plans to ensure viability.
- Research Projects: Contribute to diverse research initiatives supporting investment decisions.
- Ecosystem Support: Help foster the growth of Amsterdam’s startup ecosystem and assist in events hosted by ASIF.
The Deal Flow Fellow role also allows you to absorb additional responsibilities in one or more key verticals. We encourage you to showcase how your unique skills and experiences align with these vertical(s) in your application, outlined below.
1) Investment
- Conducting market sizing and analysis
- Developing and refining financial models
- Conducting competitor analysis for startups in our investment pipeline.
2) Legal
- Reviewing investment and partnership agreements such as Convertible Loan Agreements (CLAs) to support legal structuring and negotiations.
- Assessing startups’ regulatory compliance, business structure, and legal risks to ensure long-term viability and alignment with relevant legal frameworks.
- Assisting the Strategy Director in building a new fund by reviewing relevant laws and regulations.
3) Tech
- Product validation by assessing technical feasibility and market fit.
- Conduct feasibility analyses to ensure startups' tech stacks are scalable and aligned with their long-term growth objectives.
- Support the maintenance and development of ASIF's internal tech stack.
About You
- Self-starter passionate about startups, tech, and innovation and thrives in independent and collaborative environments.
- Strong analytical, research, and people skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and equipped with a can-do mentality and strong communication skills.
- Capable of managing responsibilities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
- Previous experience (internship, startup, student association, personal projects) is a plus.
