We’re currently investing out of a €60M seed fund and in the process of launching our next fund. As we scale, we’re looking to hire a Head of Impact & ESG who will help us identify interesting opportunities in our investment area, sharpen our theses on the most important problems that can be addressed through technological innovation, measure and report on the impact of our portfolio, and ensure we are supporting our founders to build high-performing, impactful, and sustainable companies.
What We Offer
You’ll benefit from a steep learning curve, the autonomy to turn your ideas into action, transparent feedback, lots of exposure to the tech & VC ecosystem, and the opportunity to help shape the trajectory of the fund and our portfolio. The compensation package for this position is flexible depending on a candidate’s seniority, though we guarantee it will be competitive vs. comparable roles in the VC industry.
What You’ll Be Doing
We’re looking for a curious, passionate, structured person who is excited to help further develop the firm’s impact strategy, translating it into “search fields” for the investment team as well as responsible measurement & reporting of the impact the portfolio is delivering. This role sits between the investment and operations team, meaning you’ll have lots of exposure to the partners, portfolio founders, and our ops team. Specifically, some of the things you’ll be doing include:
- Developing a comprehensive impact strategy that bridges pressing social & environmental challenges with opportunities for technological innovation and VC investment
- Understanding how macro-trends, including regulatory changes, create new entrepreneurial opportunities to make positive impact
- Conducting “deep dives” into our impact focus areas, particularly climate change and health, which help us hone in on specific investment theses and opportunities, grow our network of expertise, and share learnings with the ecosystem
- Writing and publishing thought pieces about opportunities to build strong businesses within our investment fields
- Working with the investment team to evaluate the impact potential of investment opportunities
- Working with the Revent partners and our portfolio founders to define impact KPIs for our portfolio companies, and then supporting the founders in measuring their impact
- Driving all ESG topics – from our own performance (we’re a B-Corp, and we always want to improve), to helping our portfolio introduce different ESG efforts at the appropriate time in their journey, and complying with the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR)
- Conceptualizing and creating our annual impact report and driving impact reporting & communication to external stakeholders
- Contributing your ideas and energy on how Revent can continue to iterate to deliver the best possible experience to the most ambitious founders solving critical problems
What We’re Looking For
We’re searching for someone curious, structured, passionate, and self-directed who can synthesize big-picture, systems-level ideas while knowing how to push toward actionable insights.
We think you are more likely to succeed in the application process and in the role itself if you have:
- At least 3 years of work experience in a high-paced and fluid professional environment, such as a fast-growing tech company, a consulting firm, or a demanding corporate setting.
- A background in sustainability / impact within finance, business, VC/PE, or an intersection thereof. It is important to us that you are research-literate, know how to identify and prioritize studies and sources, and can generate “investable insights” from this body of knowledge.
- The flexibility to think systemically and through a macro lens while also being willing to dig into the nitty-gritty details and translate ideas into execution.
- The ability to learn fast, think critically, and write compellingly, enabling you to digest new, complex topics and communicate them in an engaging and accessible way.
- Excellent attention to detail, a high degree of precision, and comfort with numbers so that you can get into the measurement and reporting details and ensure accuracy.
- Experience & comfort with strategic networking and coalition-building to help promote our impact framework to key stakeholders and other ecosystem players
- The ability to work quite independently when necessary, and then to switch gears to a very collaborative, social form of work with other Revent team members, our portfolio founders, and other ecosystem stakeholders.
- Openness and ability to advance multiple projects in parallel, while being intentional about prioritization & communication
- A self-starter attitude in which you lean into “all-hands-on-deck” situations and proactively think about what else can be done to take things to the next level
- A passion for Revent’s mission and aspiration to back the most important tech companies addressing significant societal and climate problems
Nice to Have Attributes
- A master’s degree or PhD in a relevant field, such as business, sustainability, or engineering.
- Previous work experience in impact management and measurement, especially within a business or finance context.
- Familiarity with policy and regulation in climate or health.
