Haylo Ventures, a Deeptech Venture Operator. Recognising a significant gap in support infrastructure that is provided for Deeptech to succeed, from investment, knowledge and resources available, we believe that Deeptech requires its very own venture operator.

Going beyond advisory roles, we actively engage in the work, propelling the commercialisation of Deeptech innovations. Building and delivering day-to-day operational support to transform visionary Deeptech into breakaway commercial successes within 3 years.

About the Role:

We are looking for an intern to join our team for 6-8 months on a full time or part time basis, with the potential for an extension. This role is based in London, and you'll be expected to work from the office at least 3 days a week. Our office is conveniently located, just a 4-minute walk from Oxford Circus.

We're offering an exciting Internship where you’ll play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with innovative companies in Deep Tech fields such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Advanced Materials Science, Nanotechnology, Photonics, Sensors, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML).

Responsibilities:

  • Gain hands-on experience in the investment process, from sourcing potential deals and evaluating startups.
  • Immerse yourself in the hardtech landscape, acquiring deep insights into transformative industries like AI, AR/VR, Nanotechnology, and more.
  • Assist the investment team by identifying and analysing potential startup investments, contributing to critical decision-making processes.
  • Contribute to deal flow and maintain the investor database, ensuring smooth operations and up-to-date information.
  • Support investor outreach and enhance communication efforts to build and strengthen key relationships.
  • Help coordinate investor meetings and events, playing an integral role in preparing and managing interactions with industry leaders.
  • Provide regular research updates and share insights on portfolio activities to keep the team aligned with ongoing developments.
  • Attend startup pitches, demo days, and industry events, actively helping source new investment opportunities and expanding our deal pipeline.
  • Research and contribute to marketing activities.
  • Support founders and leadership team with ad hoc duties.

Experience:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in a relevant field such as engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, economics, business, or a related discipline.
  • A strong interest in Deep tech.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills with the ability to analyse large datasets and complex technical information.
  • A passion for startups and an understanding of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, including the challenges faced by early-stage founders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to craft clear, concise reports and presentations is essential.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • A proactive, self-starting approach to work is key.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background or experience in engineering, physics, material science or another technical field is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with Pitchbook.
