Breakthrough Victoria will target investments across five sectors; Health & Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing, Agri-food, Digital, and Clean Economies and across every startup stage from Translational Research, Pre-Seed, Seed, Series A, and Series B+. Earlier stage investments will be coordinated by the Executive Director - Development and later stage investments by the Executive Director - Growth.
Drive Commercialisation: Mobilise and drive the commercialisation of IP to solve complex problems;
Impact Investor: Invest across the spectrum from platforms supporting deep tech and product development all the way through to startups to help create jobs for Victorians and economic growth for the State
Commercial Returns: Deliver commercial returns to ensure Breakthrough Victoria is sustainable beyond its 10-year remit
Patient partner: Invest patiently and viably over the long term
Catalytic Capital: Act as a catalyst to grow local and global investment into innovative Victorian research and technologies
Nominally reporting to one of the Directors in the Development or Growth groups, Investment Analysts will contribute to the analysis and investigation of the investment pipeline of Breakthrough Victoria. They will support the development of early-stage breakthrough ideas by leading internal due diligence on investment opportunities through the construction on financial models, ecosystem and competitor scanning and leading the development of internal briefing documents for Management Investment Committee and the Board Investment Committee.
A key focus will be to work both autonomously, across teams/groups and closely with internal stakeholders to analyse proposals, prepare advice and reporting, and communicate progress of the analysis to reporting managers in the Investment groups of the company.
Experience working in the investment industry, financial modeling, conducting due diligence and preparing advice and reporting will be crucial accountabilities for the roles. Our ideal candidate will be collaborative, driven and possess well developed analytical and problem solving skills.
