Established in 1999, Oxford Capital is an alternative investment manager that is passionate about investing in early-stage technology companies. For over 20 years, we have offered private investors and family offices access to some of the most impactful technology companies in sectors which the UK is considered a world leader. We partner with portfolio companies and founders to grow their businesses and deliver meaningful impact in their fields. Alongside our venture capital funds, we have set up and manage a range of alternative investment and private capital strategies.

The Opportunity: join our team and invest in leading early-stage tech-driven companies

We’re looking for an investment specialist to join our team and back entrepreneurs who are solving big problems in innovative ways.

You will be investing in seed stage companies and supporting our portfolio companies to develop and thrive in international markets. We are based in the centre of Oxford, one of the UK’s thriving technology clusters, and invest across the UK.

Responsibilities

  • To source and execute great investments that have a positive impact beyond just financial returns.
  • To prioritise, filter and thoroughly assess investment opportunities in our core themes
  • To exercise excellent judgement of investment opportunities.
  • To prepare concise, analytical proposals on specific opportunities.
  • To manage a portfolio of investments and contribute more broadly to the management of the entire portfolio.
  • Nurture collaboration and help educate our team with your insights and supporting our operations as required.
  • To be an ambassador for the firm and to build its reputation.
  • To support the fundraising efforts of the team.
  • Oxford-based, regular travel to London and across the UK

Requirements

You will already have relevant VC experience working for a fund or in the start-up eco-system and can demonstrate your capabilities for the role. You will be used to working with high performing entrepreneurs and senior business leaders and feel comfortable doing so. You are ready to step into a position of responsibility and influence in an established fund and have the drive to contribute to its growth and development for the long term. You are a self-starter, a team player with low ego and a growth mindset.

Essential:

  • Project management
  • Due diligence – analytical ability and experience
  • Interpersonal/communications skills - able to work across teams
  • Financial analysis skills
  • Writing and presentation skills
  • Sales / marketing experience – ability to evangelise & persuade
  • Negotiation skills to win business on good terms
  • Influencing skills – ability to build consensus in board environment

Desirable:

-      Financial modelling ability to simulate scenarios and risks

-      Client relationship management skills

-      Demonstrated entrepreneurial experience
