Chapter One manages >$100 million and is investing out of its third institutional venture fund. We manage money for top institutions and venture capital firms.

We’re looking for a San Francisco-based Investment Partner to join our team.

What we’re building

Chapter One is a product-first venture fund investing early in AI/ML, developer tools, SaaS, consumer, and FinTech, and blockchain. Our portfolio includes companies like Mercury, Supabase, Captions, Together.ai, Ondo Finance, Farcaster, Ether.fi, and many others.

We’ve backed 12 companies that have gone on to become unicorns - and we’re just getting started.

Team

Jeff Morris Jr. (Founder/Managing Partner) early team member at Tinder, where he served as VP of Product, Revenue. In that role, he led the revenue team that propelled Tinder to become the #1 top-grossing app in the App Store.

Jamesin Seidel (General Partner) has a background in data science and sports betting. Previous to Chapter One, I was the technical lead for the platform manipulation team at Twitter and, before that, spent three years on a high-stakes sports betting team working for Haralabos Voulgaris.

Doug Dyer (CFO/COO) brings unique insights from four years as an outsourced CFO to numerous PE/VC funds and from more than a decade as an LP and direct investor. Doug supports Chapter One across several key functions, including finance, operations, investor relations, and investing.

What you'll do

As an Investment Partner, you’ll:

• Lead deals and own relationships with founders
• Develop investment theses across our core sectors
• Help us uncover the next iconic companies before the rest of the world sees them
• Bring your perspective to our internal debates, public writing, and portfolio strategy
• Build long-term, values-aligned relationships inside and outside the fund

About you
You might be:

• A former founder or operator with a strong product, design, or engineering background
• An investor with a differentiated sourcing or thesis approach
• A sharp storyteller with strong opinions and curiosity
• Someone who gets energy from being close to builders
• Comfortable operating independently, but collaborative at your core

Requirements

• Must be based in San Francisco or have an existing network in San Francisco and are willing to relocate.
