Senior Strategy & Portfolio Manager - Venture Fund - Energy Digitalisation / Transition.

Hybrid work - Munich, Berlin, Essen - Germany. Competitive compensation package range €130,000 to €160,000 inclusive per annum, plus nice benefits.

This is an exciting role with a venture fund who have acquired several promising SaaS companies in the energy transformation / digitalisation arena.

The role is broad and challenging and represents an opportunity to make a significant impact. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee and manage a diverse portfolio of early-stage companies with high scale up potential, helping them navigate the market and achieve significant growth targets.

About You

We’re looking for a high calibre, highly driven portfolio management professional with relevant experience in SaaS technologies, preferably with an energy sector application.

You’re highly commercial, financially literate and comfortable with technology, possibly a graduate engineer who has followed a commercial career path.

Ideally you have min 5 years’ experience working in a VC portfolio management capacity.

We’re equally interested in applications from more experienced professionals who like to focus on portfolio management rather than line management.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with the leadership team to define the investment thesis and long-term portfolio strategy, considering market trends, technology advancements, and regulatory landscapes in the energy technology sector.

Support during the due diligence process on potential investments, including financial analysis, technology assessment, market analysis, and competitive landscape evaluation.

Participate in investment discussions, debates, and due diligence meetings to contribute to well-informed investment decisions.

Lead on the hands-on operational post-merger integration.

Actively engage with portfolio companies, providing strategic guidance, mentorship, and networking support to help them achieve key milestones and growth objectives.

Work closely with portfolio companies to identify and capitalize on opportunities for growth, market expansion, and partnerships.

Monitor the operational performance of portfolio companies, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and addressing any concerns or challenges.

Prepare regular reports and presentations in the strategy framework for the executive team and key stakeholders, updating them on the status of the portfolio, financial performance, and market trends.

Essential Skills Experience

• Proven experience (5 years) in portfolio management, private equity, energy industry, in the strategy area and/or a related role within the SaaS industry.
• Master's degree in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, or a related (strategy-) field. An advanced degree or MBA is a plus.
• Proven knowledge in portfolio management is essential.
• Solid understanding of SaaS business models, market dynamics, and industry trends.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and executing successful product strategies and roadmaps.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across different teams and departments.
• Proven track record of successfully managing and growing SaaS products in a competitive market.
  
  

Remuneration & Benefits

Competitive compensation package range €130,000 to €160,000 inclusive per annum (fixed & variable) plus nice benefits. Compensation level negotiable based on relative value and experience.

Hybrid working hours model, 30 vacation days and time off on Christmas & New Year’s Day
