Summary

The Sr Associate - Ventures Investing is a critical member of GEHA's venture capital team, working closely with the Managing Director. This role involves active participation in the venture investment process, including deal sourcing, due diligence, investment analysis, and portfolio management. The Senior Associate will be instrumental in identifying and evaluating potential investments, contributing to the strategic growth of the venture fund.

Duties

Deal Sourcing and Preliminary Evaluation:

  • Assist in identifying and screening potential investment opportunities that align with GEHA's strategic goals.
  • Conduct preliminary market research and due diligence to assess investment viability.
  • Engage with startups, venture capitalists, and industry experts to expand the investment pipeline.

Investment Analysis and Support:

  • Perform financial analysis, market assessment, and risk evaluation for potential investments.
  • Assist in preparing investment memos, presentations, and other materials for internal review and decision-making processes.
  • Support deal structuring, negotiation, and transaction execution.

Portfolio Management Assistance:

  • Monitor and report on the performance of portfolio companies, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Facilitate the integration of portfolio companies with GEHA’s resources and networks to support their growth.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic initiatives for portfolio companies.

Market Research and Industry Engagement:

  • Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and market shifts relevant to the venture fund’s focus.
  • Participate in sector-specific research and analysis to inform investment strategy.
  • Represent GEHA at industry events, conferences, and networking gatherings.

Collaboration and Team Contribution:

  • Collaborate effectively with the venture team, sharing insights and contributing to a knowledge-driven culture.
  • Assist in guiding and mentoring junior team members.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development within the venture capital field.

Education Requirements

MBA or similar advanced degree.

Experience Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, management consulting or a related industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling, valuation, and market analysis.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the venture capital ecosystem and startup dynamics.
  • Proficiency in financial software, databases, and MS Office suite.
  • Willingness to travel for due diligence, portfolio management, and industry events.
