Venture Capital Senior Associate Role:

Sopris Capital is currently seeking an individual with 4 to 6 years of professional experience to join the firm’s Senior Associate Program. The Senior Associate Program offers a rare opportunity for highly motivated candidates to build a robust investing and operational toolkit. Senior Associates are deeply integrated into all facets of investing at Sopris, from evaluating new deals, to investment due diligence, and portfolio company management. The Senior Associate Program offers unparalleled development opportunities as Senior Associates will cultivate relationships and lead critical workstreams in partnership with founders, management teams, and Board of Directors.

The Senior Associate Program has an anticipated start date in Spring 2025 (or earlier) and will consist of a two-year term with upward mobility opportunities for exceptional performers upon completion of program.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with new deal evaluation
  • Support investment due diligence and deal execution with activities including financial model buildout, scenario planning, and deep-dive unit economics analysis
  • Contribute to portfolio management activities including cap table management, board meeting participation, and ad-hoc analysis
  • Conduct thematic industry research

Qualifications:

  • College degree in Finance, Economics or a related field
  • 4 to 6 years of prior work experience in Investment Banking or Investment Management (Private Equity, Growth Equity, Private Credit, or Venture Capital)
  • Must have at least 2 years of Private Equity, Growth Equity or VC experience
  • Highly proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and succinctly
  • Exceptional financial modeling skills and attention to detail
  • Experience researching industries and analyzing market trends
  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts and business valuation fundamentals
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status
