Job Description

This role is focused on supporting Techstars mentorship-driven accelerator staff and the Global Startup Pipeline team with sourcing companies for programs that have applications open in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. The position will undertake operational tasks to source new companies, conduct email outreach, take phone calls with founders, and screen them – reporting to the Director of Global Startup Pipeline.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist accelerator investments team with identifying, sourcing and screening startups globally for Techstars accelerators
  • Work with the greater Techstars team to utilize tools and resources to gather relevant data throughout the company screening process
  • Understand the investment thesis of all programs - from verticals to geographic preferences
  • Explore and source within websites such as Crunchbase AngelList, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Research, attend and scout at pitch competitions and conferences in the various verticals and geographies.
  • Conduct email outreach within GDPR, CAN-SPAM, CASL compliance
  • Use Hubspot, Mixmax, Affinity, Eventbrite, WeBrand, Airtable, Crowdcast to manage the global startup pipeline
  • Bring new pipeline building ideas ideas to the team - and plan out detailed briefs
  • Contact screening calls with founders to vet
  • Attend screening committee events to help decide startups to pick
  • Build awareness for Techstars application on social media
  • Make outbound phone calls to founder leads

Qualifications

  • 15-20 hours a week
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in fast-paced environments
  • Be a problem solver and effective communicator
  • Appreciation of what makes a good founding team
  • Understanding of common startup terminology and traits: traction, market, etc.
  • Strong interest in the discourse around technology, entrepreneurship, and VC
  • Proficient knowledge of spreadsheets, presentations and project management
  • Good understanding of marketing CRM and lead management
  • Fits the Techstars culture (people-oriented, adaptable, supportive, creative)
  • Based in the European timezone
