We, the ventures team in Stuttgart, are seeking a new colleague. An ideal candidate has a background or strong passion about computer science and/or engineering. Curiosity and understanding of technologies and how startups scale are key. Joining our team is a unique seat with a view into accelerating technology change. There is no team quite like ours anywher e . Y ou will have the opportunity to work with both startups and incumbents in multiple industr ies and have the ear of decision makers. You will be spending your day analyzing companies driving tech disruption across industries. You will be surrounded by curious and driven people with various backgrounds (e.g. Johannes / Mechanical Engineering, Thomas / Energy Economics, Theodora / Investment Banking, Daniel / Entrepreneurship, Alina / Sustainability communication & Strategy).
TASKS:
- You will be spending your day analyzing companies driving tech disruption across industries . This includes desk research and meetings with relevant companies . Your high-quality analysis will be conducted with a significant degree of autonomy
- Examples of areas you are going to research could be Electrical engineering, IT Application Services, Cloud and Infrastructure services, powertrain systems of electric vehicles, Additive manufacturing, Chemical engineering, Cyber and Application Security, Edge Computing, Manufacturing Process Engineering, Q uantum computing , etc . We are t racking multiple technolog ies and tech sector s and always need to identify new areas currently not addressed
- We expect you to be able to take an issue and turn it into a researchable question, adeptly scope the research effort, and expertly use most (but not necessarily all) research techniques . Present findings of your work and/or be ready to answer specific questions as part of client's conversation
- Schedule and facilitate deal flow meetings between startups and corporate partners . Curate startup lists for corporate partners based on their technology interests
- Gain s ubject m atter e xpertise and d evelop your own "brand" as a highly skilled analyst on issues relevant to companies around the globe
- Be active in the global tech community through meet-ups, conferences and writing thought leadership pieces . Develop own network of contacts internally and externally to raise personal as well as Plug and Plays visibility
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines . MBA/advanced degree is a plus
- Be curious about business models and venture capital . We emphasize the word “curious”, you don’t need to be “ knowledgeable “, we value your STEM background and will teach you the rest
- Good German and excellent English skills are absolutely crucial
- Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically, analytically and creatively
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with C-Suite executives
- Experience in/comfortable with a role with a degree of ambiguity, requiring proactive analysis and action
