In line with this vision, Techstars Berlin Accelerator is now entering a new growth phase. Our aim is to build the number one launchpad for European high-growth startups. Having hired a new managing director, we are on course to take the accelerator to the next level.

The role of Venture Associate is a key part of this journey, with a focus both on program operations and investments. You will play a pivotal role in company sourcing, assessing startup applications and preparing investment decisions. You will also refine and execute the Techstars playbook to deliver the best possible program experience for founders, mentors, partners, investors and other stakeholders.

As a Venture Associate, you have the chance to broaden your network in ways you could never have imagined and receive exposure to some of the greatest early startup teams in Europe. Historically, most associates end up either being employed by a startup team, pursuing an investor career or going on to build their own companies.

What You Will Do:

  • Refine the investment theses, including sourcing, recruiting, evaluating, and closing investments in target companies via direct outreach, diverse sourcing efforts, marketing events, referrals, and inbound accelerator applications
  • Form and foster effective relationships with founders, investors, mentors, service providers, and other ecosystem partners to build a support network around our founders and develop sourcing and due diligence relationships
  • Deliver content and workshops during our 13-week accelerator programs, ensuring the best possible accelerator experience for founders, mentors, partners, investors and other program stakeholders
  • Serve as a mentor to our founders and provide them with the network, tools, and knowledge they need to succeed
  • Ensure the program follows best practices and is carried out based on the content and curriculum outlined in the Techstars playbook
  • Own the year-round logistics, operations, administration, scheduling, calendar management and event planning for the program
  • Recruit, hire and manage the seasonal associate team
  • Build relationships across Techstars by working on cross-collaborative projects and supporting the Global Program Management team
  • Travel for this role is minimal and typically requires annual travel to StaffCon (our company-wide annual offsite), a team-specific offsite, and providing support to the managing director with company sourcing when applicable and where appropriate for the program


What You Bring To The Role:

  • You have 4+ years of experience in fast-paced environments with a focus on zero-to-one early-stage tech entrepreneurship, business operations, and/or project management.
  • Experience as a co-founder/ early employee at a startup company or prior early-stage tech investing experience is a plus, as is experience with product development, engineering or go-to-market
  • You harbor a fierce drive to succeed. This is matched by your humility and a team-oriented attitude.
  • You take the initiative and are comfortable working in ambiguous /unstructured environments.
  • You are a great organizer and project manager.
  • You are analytically oriented and make decisions based on data.
  • You have unlimited capacity for, and take enjoyment from, networking with people from all walks of life.
  • You have a strong interest in the discourse surrounding technology, startups, entrepreneurship and venture capital.
