Who are we?

As Quebec's leading investor, Desjardins Capital is a development and venture capital fund manager that offers strategic and financial support to growing companies and tech startups in Quebec. This call for applications is intended solely for Desjardins Capital's venture capital team. The venture capital team is a major player in investment within Quebec's startup ecosystem. The team now manages a portfolio of 80 businesses, representing over $200 million in assets under management.Who are we looking for?At Desjardins Capital, we're currently looking to complete our investment team by hiring an analyst dedicated to our mission and eager to have an impact on the tech ecosystem. The analyst is at the heart of the venture capital team. Their role involves them in all aspects of investment and portfolio management to help the team build, grow, value and monetize portfolio investments. This opportunity is intended as a platform for learning and exposure to the field of venture capital. The applicant will play an essential role in the identification of new investment opportunities, due diligence, fund growth and portfolio management.

Main responsibilities

  • Collect, compile and analyze data. Write reports and make recommendations. Prepare internal investment documents for all transactions, in compliance with Desjardins Capital's investment process and guidelines
  • Create and update financial models that allow quantitative analysis in order to facilitate decision-making
  • Take part in the identification of investment opportunities and in their assessment (due diligence), monitoring and financial analysis
  • Create value for portfolio companies by monitoring them and providing financial and market analysis
  • Participate in the delivery of Desjardins Venture Capital's strategic and operational initiatives by working with team members in the development of analyses and various deliverables
  • Actively participate in administrative and operational tasks to ensure the fund runs smoothly
  • Contribute to the team's presence and visibility in the venture capital ecosystem in order to promote Desjardins Capital
  • Monitor the industry to stay on top of the latest trends, opportunities and best practices in your field
  • Support investment managers in their relations with portfolio companies. Ensure businesses' satisfaction and the delivery of quality service by providing follow-up and implementing the improvements required
  • Work with investment directors to advise entrepreneurs on the best solutions and strategies, and agree on the targeted results. Support entrepreneurs in the development, execution, rollout and follow-up for the various initiatives carried out.

  • Workplace : Position located in Québec or Montreal, depending on the applicant selected. The work arrangement for the position is hybrid work #LI-Hybrid

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree of business administration, science, engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in venture capital, investment or advisory services

Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

  • An entrepreneurial or startup profile will also be considered
  • For vacant positions available in Quebec, please note that knowledge of French is required

Specific knowledge

  • Proficiency in the Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Very good knowledge of accounting and finance
  • Strong communication skills in both French and English, both oral and written
