Vice President, Venture Debt
ATEL Ventures, a leading provider of secured financing to emerging growth, start-up companies is seeking a Vice President who is a highly motivated, dynamic self-starter with at least five years of successful venture lending experience to help cultivate our rapidly growing team of originators.

The ideal candidate is a highly successful, well networked sales professional with:
- A strong selling focus and at least five years’ experience in emerging growth financing - venture debt
- Relationships with leading venture capital firms, CFOs and entrepreneurs
- Proven ability to originate, structure, negotiate and close venture leasing and debt transactions
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leverage an ever-developing personal network of venture capital and entrepreneurial ecosystem contacts to self-generate new loan clients and effectively handle warm leads
- Represent the ATEL brand with professionalism and integrity
- Execute timely follow-up and lead management
- Proactively drive account management from prospect to funding
- Analyze and review key credit documents and present transactions to loan committee
- Originate deal opportunities, negotiate terms, and close venture debt and equipment financing opportunities
- Meet and exceed sales origination activity standards
- Bring a positive and competitive attitude to work
Required Skills /Abilities:
- Excellent business communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex financial principles
- Exceptional sales and customer service skills
- Ability to analyze business plans, financial statements, and projections
- Understanding of venture lending and how markets and economies affect those services
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong team player with ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and focus on achieving company goals
- Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and independent thinker
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required; experience with Salesforce.com a plus
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Finance, Economics or related field
- Minimum five years of successful origination experience in venture debt industry
- Experience in structuring venture debt, and working capital financings
